Almost scammed!

hihihi. i'm back. some many months never touch this thing.

anyways. life has been pretty much about meeting deadlines, and slacking my remaining of the time away. so yeah. heh.

anyways, if yu noticed that the topic was "Almost scammed!", yeah, my grandmother almost got scammed this afternoon. and i thought i should just put this up somewhere, in case some stragglers are still reading this space here. this is a TRUE STORY, and it might happen to you!

so today, my grandmother received a phonecall today, from a supposedly "me". and through the telephone "i" sounded just like me! the conversation goes like this:

[loosely translated, entire conversation was in chinese/hokkien.]
fake me: ah ma! help help. i am kidnapped and people are beating me up!
ah ma: *kanchiong* aiyoh! boy arh! you calm down. where are you now?
fake me: i cannot say! if not they will beat die me!

-phone passes on to someone else-
someone else: who are you?
ah ma: i am his ah ma! please don't anyhow beat my grandson!
someone else: you got money or not?
ah ma: money i don't have la.. please don't anyhow..
someone else: no money then go and die. *hangs up*

so my kanchiong ahma gave my mum a call, FORGETTING that she just called me around half an hour ago, to ask me whether i was going over for dinner, and i had told her that i was at home the entire day. to make matters worse, my mum didn't answer her phone cos she was busy. my ahma proceeded to call everyone in my family except me.

but i was sitting in front of my computer, catching mouse on facebook.

so eventually my mum was reached, and she called me. first thing she said was: "oie. you kana kidnap arh?" awesome mum.

anyways, the next fifteen minutes of my life was dedicated to calling everyone and telling them that i am safe.

this was not the first time that this had happened in my family. a couple of months back, someone called my grandfather saying her daughter(my mum) was kidnapped. whoever the fuck is the boliao person will definitely get it if he gets caught. a police report has been filed, although i question its usefulness.

anyway, just a tinker to everyone who is still reading after so much of ranting: we cannot stop stupid people from doing that, but we can ensure that we don't fall into such a ploy by keeping in constant contact with family or letting them know where we are.

that's all folks! until next time, stay safe!

ps: exams in two weeks. i'm quite royally screweddddd~
